About the Founders

Alexis holds a degree in Environmental Science and Management, with minors in Sustainable Studies and Environmental Economics. Her diverse academic background reflects her passion for sustainability at both the individual and systemic levels.

Alexis is particularly driven by large-scale sustainability initiatives, such as strategic urban planning, corporate accountability, and government regulation. Her goal is to influence and improve global systems to better respect the planet and all forms of life while meeting the natural needs of humanity. She firmly believes progress can be achieved without compromising environmental integrity, embodying intelligence, resilience, and humanity. Through ECO Journey, Alexis channels her expertise into inspiring communities and fostering solutions that advance both sustainability and societal growth.

Born and raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, Aja witnessed firsthand the importance of building a strong relationship between urban communities and nature. This personal connection to her community fuels her passion for urban environmental education.

At Michigan State University, Aja specialized in environmental studies and developed a keen focus on creating sustainable, impactful, and inclusive educational programs. Her work aims to empower urban communities to understand, appreciate, and actively contribute to the health and well-being of urban ecosystems. Aja’s ability to connect with people and her deep commitment to fostering a greater appreciation for the natural world make her an integral part of ECO Journey’s mission to bridge the gap between urban living and environmental stewardship.
